We’ve been interviewing makeup artists to add to our team all week.
It’s been a 50/50 mix between amazing artists we can’t wait to work with and … what is the polite way to say “People who should have gone to school for something else or maybe married rich?”
We’ve met the coolest people over at Whiskey Cake.
2 models. 1 cool blogger. 1 hot waiter. 2 amazing makeup artists (ok, we cheated with the last one… we asked them to meet us here).
But, what is it about this place? Is it the food? It’s very good, but really! There’s something going on in this place.
Guess how many times we’ve been to Whiskey Cake this week?
Ugh, maybe don’t guess. It’s embarrassing how little we cook during the Summer. But it is safe to say it was more than once and less than four times.
They put something in their coffee. That has to be it. Because the food is good but not that good.
Just kidding. The coffee and the food are both amazing. Not good, Amazing. If the food had been shit we still would have come back for the coffee and vice-versa.
But the food wasn’t shit.
The pork is the softest most amazing thing you’ll ever chew. We’re not just being nice. We were happy to pay the $15 per plate price for this farm-to-table creation (they could have charged us more) because it blew our minds.
The kitchen at Whiskey Cake is single-handedly going to make Plano less…um…suburban.
And, ok… are you ready to fall in love with a sandwich?
It is so beautifully presented that it makes you sad to eat it.
Grilled onions are usually not our thing but, again, that kitchen is whipping out jewel after jewel. The flavors marry perfectly with each other and make eating a freaking experience.
Thank goodness we were recording the interviews because our hands got dirty! We were not in any position to take notes.
The waiters were fast, friendly. Surprisingly artistic, most of them.
Food was reasonably priced for the quality. Not too much pretentiousness in this casual/vintage spot.
Overall we seriously recommend it. It’s packed at lunch so we got there a little early (11:30 should do you just fine). Pick the bar height table by the window for best people watching.
If you go for brunch do yourself a favor and order the chicken & waffles. They’re having a moment in Dallas right now but they’re really worth a try at Whiskey Cake.
And don’t skip the coffee.
